Talent HQ – Award-winning recruitment prodigies offering aspirational jobs in Hertfordshire – gives advice on answering interviewers’ questions

Publish On 31-03-2015 , 1:32 PM

Here at Talent HQ, we are always happy to offer guidance to our candidates – those seeking full and part time jobs in Hertfordshire – on how to secure the right role for them. Each month, we look at different stages of job-seeking and how best to approach them.

This month, we focus on answering interviewers’ questions. If you are looking for either full or part time jobs in Hertfordshire and you are interested to know more on this part of the process, the following tips could be of great use:

• By researching, in advance, what questions you are most likely to be asked and seeking the most favourable answers, you will find the process much easier. Look for the top 10 interview questions then consider other questions you may be asked; they could be industry, job or experience-related or personal – perhaps something on your CV that evokes interest.
• Align your answers to the job that you are applying for.
• Be positive. Remain positive about past employers – if you don’t, interviewers will wonder if you will criticise their company should you work for them then move on.
• Be proud of what you have achieved. If ever there is a time to talk of successes you’ve had, this is it! That said, be careful not to come across as arrogant.
• Back up your statements about yourself with previous achievements. This supports your story, showing that you are as good as you say you are.
• Be succinct. Say enough but not too much and ensure what you say is appropriate. Listen to the interviewer’s question and stick to answering only that.
• Consider your body language as you respond. Looking to the floor and not making eye contact might give the interviewer the perception that you are not being totally truthful.
• Avoid saying that you want a job primarily because of the attractive salary or other benefits and avoid admitting you want it because of the appealing hours or commute.
• Show that you have done your research on the company and your understanding of the role.

Of course, this is not an exhaustive list of tips.
